We are so excited to announce that we’re expanding our presence in Southern California by opening a new clinic in Santa Monica.

At Two Chairs, we are on a mission to build a world where everyone has access to exceptional mental health care — care that’s personalized to them, when and where they need it. Starting at the end of this month, people looking for therapists in Los Angeles will have a new option for either virtual or in-person therapy in Santa Monica at our beautiful new location just off the 3rd Street Promenade.

Our Santa Monica clinic is under the leadership of Rosanna Azanza, LCSW, a Southern California native who has a breadth of mental health experience and a passion for witnessing change and resilience in clients.

We sat down with her to get to know her and chat about her time at Two Chairs, her aspirations for the clinic, and more.

Meet Rosanna Azanza, LCSW, Clinical Director of Two Chairs Santa Monica

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in a small town in the High Desert here in California. I never thought I would stay here long term, but I found my way back after making my way through undergrad and graduate school! I love the diversity of culture, food, and outdoor activities that Los Angeles offers.

I love my profession as a clinical social worker! I’m passionate about connecting with people, learning about systems and their impact on people, and working with teams to solve problems and develop solutions. Prior to joining Two Chairs, I worked primarily in community mental health settings in outpatient treatment settings as both a clinician and clinical supervisor.

What is your favorite thing about working with clients?

Being able to witness change in clients and walk alongside them in their therapy journey is POWERFUL and energizing. The human capacity for resiliency is my why for being a LCSW/therapist.

Making space in therapy for the things that have been unspoken, unheard, or dismissed in life and working together  to make sense of it and take action is what I enjoy most, and celebrating the small wins along the way gives me a lot of joy. I also like to share with my clients that working together is a journey of tapping into their internal pharmacies or tool boxes, and adding to them as we go.

What most excites you about leading the new Santa Monica clinic?

I am so excited to bring together an amazing team of Santa Monica therapists of diverse backgrounds, varied expertise, and professional experiences to serve Santa Monica and neighboring communities here in LA! Increasing access to quality therapy is a must, especially as we slowly chip away at the stigma around mental health — and being part of the solution in my community is key for me. I am excited for us to establish our roots so that more people in need of therapy can get the care they need!

What do you love most about working at Two Chairs?

I am blown away by the creativity and care that folks at Two Chairs bring to the table each day, as well as their welcoming nature. I’m newer to Two Chairs and have been so grateful to have joined a work culture where there is an emphasis on continuously improving the client experience AND the therapist experience.

What are your favorite spots near Santa Monica that support your mental wellness?

I am a big fan of nature soothing my soul! I love spending time away from any form of screen by casually trekking low- to moderate-level hikes just north of Santa Monica, like Los Leones and Temescal Canyon, followed by a stop at Malibu Seafood for some savory bites beachside. And ANY sunset will stop me in my tracks!

One place that really promotes peace and calmness for me is Lake Shrine. beautiful plants, flowers and quiet ambiance are so healing.
